Glendale. It’s a gorgeous, vibrant city. Seemingly perpetually sunny, Glendale has been a wonderful home to so many for generations. Unfortunately, there are some areas of Glendale that are more dangerous to drive on than others. Despite the best efforts of all involved, there are intersections in the Glendale area that are dangerous for car accidents. We do not present this list of intersections to scare you. Every day, so many drive on these same intersections in safety. This is really a call for safer, more defensive driving. Yes, you can do everything absolutely right and still be the victim of an accident. However, perhaps, if you know which intersections are a bit more likely to be the scene of a traffic accident than another, it can cause you to drive all that much safer.
Be Careful Making a Turn to or From Brand Boulevard
Brand Boulevard is, for many, what they first think of when they think of Glendale. Practically Glendale’s main thoroughfare, it is central in many ways to Glendale. So many businesses and restaurants are right on Brand. Unfortunately, this leads to more accidents on Brand Boulevard than anywhere else.
Now, this doesn’t mean that Brand is a particularly dangerous area. Far from it. What it does mean is that Brand is a particularly popular area. And, where there’s more people, there’s more cars, which, in turn, can lead to more car accidents. Always, whether you’re on Brand or anywhere else in Glendale, you should drive safely and smartly.
Brand: The Most Dangerous to Turn Onto or Off Of
Going by the last half decade of available data, Brand Boulevard is half of the two intersections that have had the most accidents. Think about that. There’s no other street that falls into the top five twice. But, Brand shows up in one and two. That shows just how dangerous Brand can be if you aren’t paying attention or driving as conscientiously as you could.
The two most dangerous intersections in Glendale for car accidents (as of this writing) are at Brand and Sanchez Drive as well as Brand and Goode Avenue. That’s a lot of businesses, a lot of places that people want to go.
67 accidents occurred at those two intersections. That’s not “67” in total, as one had 34 accidents and another had 33 accidents. No, that’s 67 at each intersection. That’s far, far too many accidents.
Even more amazingly perhaps, Brand is also half of the intersection with the third most accidents. As hard as it may be to believe, Colorado Street and Brand Boulevard have the third most accidents, coming in with 59.
One accident is too many. But, that number is very high. If you’re going to Brand Boulevard, or anywhere in Glendale, be as safe as possible.
Western and Glendale
We mentioned above that “no other road appears twice in the top five.” That’s true. However, one road, other than Brand, appears three times in the top ten. That road would be Glendale Avenue.
If you think a bit about your Glendale geography, it’ll immediately become apparent why. Glendale, like Brand, is a main street in Glendale. How many times have you gone to a restaurant on Glendale, how many times have you gone shopping there, met friends, patronized a business, etc.?
Just like Brand, Glendale isn’t a “dangerous” area, so to speak. But, because it’s so popular and so many drive through it, there are far too many accidents.
Going by the same time frame as the above information about Brand Boulevard, the intersection at Glendale and Wilson Avenues has experienced 58 crashes in the last five years. By that same token, the area where Chevy Chase Drive and Glendale Ave meet has experienced 53.
If you know the intersection at Broadway and Glendale Avenue, then you know an intersection where 47 crashes have occurred.

This isn’t to say that Brand Boulevard and Glendale Avenue are the only two places in Glendale where accidents occur. Indeed, Glenoaks Boulevard and Western Avenue have experienced 59 accidents, Honolulu and Lowell Avenues have experienced 54 while San Fernando Road and Western Avenue have experienced 48 respectively.
Glendale is a wonderful place to live and visit, but, because of that, there are always so many vehicles passing through. It is always important to drive defensively, to drive smartly, so as to minimize the possibility of an accident. Unfortunately, that said, there’s no foolproof way to avoid an accident.
